The Aral takeover by BP in 2002 was the beginning of an extensive restructuring of the Bochum HQ. It was intended to come up with a very modern office philosophy that can also be seen in its structural representation.
The Hamburg-based architectural firm of Bothe Richter Teherani Architekten developed an urbanistic concept that took account of the grown intra-urban structure. To go well with the villas around it, individual structures were needed.
Starting with a one-storey base in which we find the conference rooms, BP HQ stretches from Kortumpark to the seven-storey main building in Wittener Straße, incorporating the row of existing buildings. The individual parallelogram-like office wings seem to hover above the base.
The open structure of the buildings provides daylight-flooded workplaces in an office landscape that is interlocked with the park, giving the user a maximum of flexibility.
