13th century Marschiertor, also called Kleinmarschiertor, is one of once eleven Aachen city gates.
Only two of these gate are extant: Ponttor in the north and Marschiertor in the south.
The former fortifications now form Alleenring linking the star-like city centre roads.
As Ponttor, Marschiertor originally had a no longer existing storm gate.
The main gate was heavily damaged in WW II, and its initial reconstruction was rather makeshift.
