The estate at the edge of the rather medieval old town of Wipperfürth finished in 2005 comprises a parish centre with an adjacent sexton’s house and a small old people’s housing estate with a total of eight flats.
The ensemble of buildings - in its architectural language of differently slanted roofs and dark renderings - contrasts with the nearby Romanic church and the surrounding historical buildings of the old town in a marked fashion.
The new mass construction buildings enclose a slightly raised inner courtyard which primarily serves as a meeting place for the senior citizens.
Passage ways of various designs and an exciting arrangement of buildings make for an interesting path system and visual relationships.
Wide access balconies rendered in white and orientated toward the inner courtyard contrast with the dark renderings and mark the development of the old people’s flats.
