The creation of the municipal park of approx. 100ha in Krefeld-Fischeln means an important green link between town and country.
The agriculturally shaped landscape was enclosed with a bold planting of trees and bushes over the municipal park’s entire area and protected against a further expansion of developed land on the outskirts of the city. Instead of the usual ousting of agriculture through leisure activities, meadows and fields here are integrated in the park’s design and may thus get experienced.
Some “islands” within the park designed in a more differentiated manner work as magnets and create a unique overall picture. It should be pointed out that it was seen to an inexpensive upkeep, too. Different fields of trees create independent “walls” in space, locations, directions and “poetic” places. The special thing about the planting concept is that the various kinds of trees are arranged in such a fashion that their first bloom occurs in a sequential east-to- west pattern.
