A diagonal crosses the square ground plan of the Kunstmuseum in Bonn and reduces the exhibition visit to an L-shaped area, off the street. The second part of the structure is a roofed outdoor area with monumental, slim round pillars. This is screened off Bundesstraße 9 (Friedrich Ebert-Allee) by an “inhabited” wall, accommodating the museum’s admin. The interior of the museum, which has three entrances, is characterised by openness. Its core is formed by the stairs that look like geometrical gems. In the lobby’s basement, we find the cloakrooms and the lecture hall; on the ground floor is the cafeteria. The museum is the most important post-war museum in (western) Germany.
