RWE-Tower

Opened in August 2005, the new 100 m, 22-storey RWE high-rise in Dortmund’s city centre is the tallest office building in town.
The arched dark facade with its window openings and the roof end consisting of two pitch roofs sloping inside are striking features. The higher of these pitch roofs is glazed and lets light into the bistro with its gallery below.
The facing of low parapets and small pillars with dark, polished granite breaks up the facade and, in contrast to full glass facades, all individual office windows can actually be opened.
On the ground floor we find a one-storey structure built around the lens-shaped ground plan taking up the ramps down to the underground garage and providing space for shops and restaurants and pubs.
Facing Platz von Amiens, a glass canopy marks the high-rise’s entrance.
