The pedestrian and cycle bridge erected in the course of the conversion of Duisburg Innenhafen (inner port) crosses a harbour and connects Altstadtpark with newly planned greens.
The re-anchored suspension bridge has a span of 73m.
The 3.5m-wide bridge can be raised to 10.6m above normal to keep the harbour navigable by hydraulically tipping the masts outward, so that the chain structure of the bridge “bends” upward.
Additional elements, during normal operations found in the foundation pockets, are then pulled out in order to stretch the structure by the 3.65m required.
