The new building of “Modehaus Zara” [a fashion store] is right in Hohe Straße, one of the most frequented shopping precincts in Cologne.
The cautious design of the façade and having done without any colourful billboards is a very pleasant experience.
The fashion multiple’ premises aside, on the upper floors there are also offices and two flats with roof terraces.
The façade consists of a pillar-waler structure and is fully paned.
The closed parts of the façade facing Hohe Straße are photovoltaic to the full. The ultramarine shade is created by the silicon cells in insulating glass.
The ecological use aside, the blue gleam of the façade’s surface also contributes to the elegant appearance of the building.
