The housing estate “Fine Frau/Lange Fuhr“ in Dortmund-Dorstfeld was built in the 1920’s in the then typical miner’s house style with renderings and a brick base.
Given its architecture and original condition, the estate with a total of 77 dwelling units is of much urbanistic importance.
The former miners’ estate was redeveloped in 1996/97, with much attention being paid to a full preservation of the characteristic and potentially listed appearance. The two to three-storey houses’ design as roadside buildings remained unaltered. A uniform and calm selection of colours underscores the ‘estate nexus’, if you will, which also includes the new use of the “hutches” at the back and a uniform design of the exterior. At the back of the buildings, the former loggias were either closed or uniformly structured through rail window elements.
